Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa was founded September 1, 1772 by Padre Serra. The mission was named for St. Louis, Bishop of Toulouse. In 1794 the present building was constructed and the vestibule was added in 1820. Modernization with wood siding was done in 1868. In 1934, the mission was restored to it's original form.
